Montana Lane is green in the radio world, but not a stranger to the Texas Country scene. He cut his teeth on albums ranging from The Highwaymen and Johnny Bush to Turnpike Troubadours and Randy Rogers. Born in Austin and raised in Coupland, he may be better known in these parts as Montana Lane Welch. Attending Taylor High School, he was a 2 time state medalist and 4 time national champion in the pole vault. Now, he has switched from stadium lights to spotlights to pursue a different calling as a 4th generation musician.
In the summer of ‘25, he got his first taste of radio as an artist, pushing his debut radio single “Livin’ Simple” to number 24 on the Texas Country radio charts, and is now continuing his career as an artist as well as beginning one as a DJ.
We’re giving him a shot here at KRXT to show us what he knows when it comes to true Texas Music as he makes his radio debut hosting the Texas Troubadours, where he’ll take us on a trip down memory lane AND introduce us to and let us hear from the up-and-comers of the genre, giving us an inside glimpse at what it takes to be the next big thing.
